Call for Complex Case Submissions – Competency in Phlebology 2027

As part of the scientific program of Competency in Phlebology 2027, we are pleased to invite healthcare professionals with a special interest in deep venous disease to submit complex clinical cases for potential presentation during the course. Among the submitted cases, the Scientific Committee will select up to 12 for 3-minute presentation. 

This call is open to phlebologists, vascular surgeons, angiologists, and interventional radiologists who are actively involved in the management of deep vein disorders.

Suggested Topics for Case Submission

We particularly welcome cases that raise questions, challenge established approaches or offer opportunities for discussion around diagnosis, treatment strategy and clinical decision-making, including:

• Cases with uncertain or controversial treatment strategies
• Complex deep venous disease requiring individualized treatment planning
• Failed treatments, complications and bailout strategies
• Recurrent disease and challenging reinterventions
• Cases in which imaging significantly changed diagnosis or treatment planning
• Post-thrombotic syndrome: complex management and unresolved clinical questions
• Technical challenges in endovascular, surgical or hybrid procedures

Submission Requirements

Submissions must be in English and follow the format below:

• Include a short abstract (< 500 words) in PDF format to explain the clinical case
• Include a detailed description of the clinical background, treatment strategy and final outcome
• Include high-quality images and/or videos where applicable
• Do not include any references to commercial products, medical devices or company names

 How to Submit

Abstracts and presentations must be sent via email with the subject line:
“Competency in Phlebology 2027 – Case Submission – [Name Surname]”

In the body of the email, please include:

• Your specialization
• Your affiliation (hospital, clinic, or university)
• Contact details (email and phone number)
• Any potential conflicts of interest
• The name of the presenting author, who will be considered the main contact for all correspondence related to the submission

For large files, please include a WeTransfer link or equivalent file-sharing service.

Benefits for Selected Cases

Authors of selected cases will be invited to present their work during the course and will benefit from a special registration fee:

• Residents: complimentary registration
• All other selected presenters: reduced registration fee of €180 VAT included

The complimentary or reduced registration fee applies exclusively to the presenting author of each selected case.
